Beyond Our Studios.

Partnerships and Third Party Locations with Little Art House.

From the beginning, we’ve wanted to provide our services in as many areas of Nashville as possible.  Art for All isn’t just about age, skill level, or interest.  It’s part of our mission to help make art accessible as possible.  This has taken us down many different avenues, like offering camps @ USN where we got our start and continue with camps today , founding our non-profit Little Art House Foundation to offer free/reduced services where it’s most impactful and third party locations like The Getalong where we offer classes and camps year round!

Jen Kite (Owner of The Getalong) and I met through mutual friends when she was transitioning from her pop up, Scout, to a brick and mortar (to become The Getalong :).  When chatting, we quickly realized we had a lot of goals in common when it came to providing services to the community for connection, learning and fun!

We connected about LAH providing art events, camps and classes in The Getalong community space to have our services on the east side in late 2018.  Classes began in February 2019 and we’ve been going year round offering a little bit of everything there ever since.

Here’s a little more about Jen’s experience as an LAH Third Party Location partner!

Q: How did you hear about LAH and what drew you to starting a partnership?

A: I met Emma in June 2018 at a birthday party of a mutual family friend. We ran into each other a few weeks later in Athens, GA and realized we had a lot in common. At the time I had an online + pop-up shop called SCOUT. The focus was baby + kids clothing and gifts. After a pop-up residency that November, the seed was planted to open a brick and mortar, The Getalong. A big part of our business plan was to host activities, classes, performances, and readings, and our first call was to Little Art House. It was a dream partnership for us and since they didn’t have an East Side location, it was a great opportunity to expand.

Q: How long have y'all been partners?

A: Over seven years! Little Art House has been our partner since day one of The Getalong opening our doors on February 2, 2019. They were a part of our first day and have been an activity partner since!

Q: What is your favorite part of the partnership?

A: Working with LAH has been so natural and easy. I know that comes from mutual respect, trust, and shared values. We’re equally enthusiastic and supportive of any ideas that one of us might have. Our goals are the same, so it makes planning simple. They play a big role in fulfilling our mission of having art experiences for all ages, especially little ones, through camps, classes, and special events.

Q: What challenges have y'all faced together?

A: We’ve been through a lot! When we first opened we were finishing out a previous shop’s lease with only five months left. We decided to not renew and moved a few blocks down the street. It was a scary decision as we were just gaining momentum in our space, but we had really already outgrown that location with what we wanted to do activity-wise and our new (and current) space allowed for more and provided us with indoor AND outdoor activity space. That was in 2019.

About eight months later our neighborhood was devastated by a tornado followed by the pandemic shutdown two weeks after that. When we felt it was time, we found safe ways to reopen and provide families with a creative outlet through camps, and later, classes.

We’ve since navigated shifts in client needs whether that’s adding more classes for a certain age or adjusting the days and times for certain offerings.

We’ve also experienced “the next best thing” attitude aka Nashville growth, but what we find is that families keep coming back to LAH. Their model and approach are consistent. They set a high bar for their teachers and provide them with excellent training, resources, and tools to provide participants with a quality and engaging experience.

Q: What are some goals, intentions or values that are aligned between your business & LAH?

A: We’re community-minded and want children and families to have a safe and calm outlet to create art. We’ve seen imaginations and confidence grow along with collaborative thinking. It’s an honor and true joy to be part of the development of young artists.
